A new report states invasive species are costing Ontario municipalities millions each year. In 2019, municipalities and conservation authorities spent $50.8 million. 2019 Economic Report – Cost to Ontario Municipalities and Conservation Authorities

A 2019 report from the Invasive Species Centre, calculates that Ontario municipalities and conservation authorities spend an estimated $50.8 million per year on invasive species management. The potential impacts on agriculture, fisheries, forests, healthcare, tourism, and the recreation industry from invasive species are estimated to be $3.6 billion per year in Ontario.

Invasive Species Exhibit at Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre

 



The Invasive Species Centre and Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre were proud to announce the official opening of an exhibit exploring the threat of invasive species to Canada’s land and water. The exhibit, housed at the Bushplane Centre, offers exciting and interactive opportunities for visitors of all ages to learn about invasive species and includes 3D replicas of Asian Carps, a log damaged by emerald ash borer, and a tank of live sea lamprey.
