DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Dr. Deborah McCullough\, Professor\, Department of Entomology and Department of Forestry\, Michigan State University \nThis webinar will address options for protecting valuable ash trees in landscapes from Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) with systemic insecticides. Tactics to integrate systemic insecticides with other EAB management tactics in forested areas\, as well as landscapes\, will be included. It will cover some myths about treating ash trees that just won’t go away and talk about trunk injection and potential wounding. Factors related to the economics of treating vs removing ash trees will be included. Questions will be welcome!

DESCRIPTION:The Port Franks Garden Club will host their annual Home and Garden Show on Saturday\, May 18 at the Port Franks Community Centre. The event will be preceded by a presentation by Madison Sturba\, Program Development Coordinator for the Invasive Species Centre from 9-10 am. She will be there to provide an informative session on dealing with oak wilt. This is a very real threat to our beautiful\, forested dunes and oak savannah habitat but luckily one that we may be able to avoid with early detection and rapid response. \nAfter the presentation\, feel free to stay for the Garden Show from 10am-12pm \n\nPlant sale in the West Wing featuring native plants of Thedford\nGwen’s Garden Produce and Sheila Rose Garden Wear by the tennis courts\nLot of vendors with a variety of goods and services in the Main Hall\nAusable Port Franks Optimist Club’s 50/50 Draw tickets will be for sale\n\nAdmission is FREE so come and support this local club!
