Invasive Species Awareness Week (ISAW) takes place annually in the last week of February. The goal of this week is to come together to increase awareness about the impacts of invasive species and how we can protect natural spaces.

Thank you for participating in ISAW 2024! Here is what we were able to accomplish together:

  • A reach of 2.4 million+ on social media and platforms across Canada
  • 170+ participating organizations/accounts
  • 200+ people engaged at events
  • 75+ community scientists ready to report invasive species across Canada

There’s still time to get involved!

  • iNaturalist Competition
    • Join our iNaturalist project: Invasive Species Awareness Bioblitz; make sure to join your regional project as well. Note: You must have an iNaturalist account to join. It’s free to sign up.
    • The full contest runs from Feb. 26 to Sept. 16. The iNaturalist user who makes the most invasive species observations in each region will win a prize.
    • Full terms and conditions available here.

Together, our actions help raise awareness about the importance of preventing the spread of invasive species.

The Invasive Species Centre and our partners lead this annual campaign in Canada to help raise awareness about the threat that invasive species pose to our natural heritage. Each year, many organizations support Invasive Species Awareness Week to make it a huge success.

Thank you for taking part in Invasive Species Awareness Week and everything you do to protect the land and water from invasive species!
